System Notification Settings
This topic explains notification settings. You can access notification settings by going to Manage > System Notifications.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Sensor | |
Cloud Email Protection has not received a message in the time period |
This notification is designed to keep you informed if Cloud Email Protection has stopped receiving messages from a Sensor. Select from one of the following values: 60 (default), 30, 15, 10, or 5 minutes. Shorter time periods mean more aggressive alerting. Large organizations with a high mailflow may want to set this notification to 15 minutes or less because they might never reasonably expect to go that long without receiving at least one message. Smaller organizations with lower mailflow or mailflow that drops off at certain times, such as weekend nights, might find that shorter values, such as 15 minutes, might create false alerts. |
The credentials supplied for [messaging platform] stop authenticating correctly. (The messaging platform is in the Sensor Settings section of your organization settings and would have a value such as G Suite or Office 365. See Organization Settings for details.) | This notification is designed to inform you if authentication issues prevent the Sensor from connecting to the messaging platform. This could occur, for example, if the password used for authentication is changed in the messaging platform but not on the Sensor. |
Host system | |
The Host system notification settings apply only to organizations that host their own Sensors. If you choose hosted Sensors (see Sensors for details), the preferred architecture, Fortra Cloud Email Protection automatically manages these Sensor systems so that the issues that could potentially generate these notifications do not occur. | |
Any disk partition exceeds 90% capacity |
This notification is designed to inform you if any physical or virtual disk partition that hosts a Sensor is nearing capacity. This notification may be an indicator that your organization's email stream is reaching the capacity of your installed Sensor(s) and you may need to install another. If you have installed a Sensor on a machine that contains other partitions for other purposes, you can use the Disk Partition to Ignore list to specify partitions to not get notified about. Enter the fully qualified pathname of any partition on the Sensor machine that you do not want to be notified about, and click Add. |
CPU utilization percentage exceeds 90% for more than 10 minutes | This notification is designed to inform you if the CPU of the physical or virtual machine that hosts a Sensor is at risk of reaching capacity. Brief CPU capacity peaks can happen, but extended time at or near capacity may be an indicator that the Sensor processing requirements of your organization's email stream is approaching the CPU's processing capability. Solutions could include adding another Sensor or moving to a machine with a more powerful CPU. |
Policies | |
Any policy event email notifies more than [number] original recipients | This notification is designed to inform you if notification email messages sent by policy events go to too many people affected by the policy. This setting takes effect only if the Notify original recipients setting is a policy is selected. (See Policy Settings for details about this setting.) Select from one of the following values: 10 (default), 100, or 500. |
A policy event email bounces or fails to be delivered | This notification is designed to inform you if an email message sent because of a policy event is not delivered to its defined recipient. This could occur, for example, because of a glitch in the system or the recipient defined in the policy has left the organization and the email account has been disabled. |
Microsoft Entra Connect Sync fails to sync an Address Group within a day | This notification is designed to let you know if there is an issue with Microsoft Entra keeping any address group synchronized. |
