Data Migration |
Overview
Data migration is the process of transferring or consolidating data from one application or system to another, which may be necessary if migrating Automate Enterprise data from one computer to another, upgrading to a newer version of the software (for example, Automate Enterprise 9 to Automate Enterprise 10) or in certain situations, transferring from one product line to another (for example, Automate to Automate Enterprise). Automate Enterprise is designed to run side-by-side with Automate, allowing you to perform migrations at your own leisure.
Migrating Data
Some important factors to consider in data migration is overall ease of use and total downtime accumulated as a result of the migration and testing phases. With Automate Enterprise, migration is easy and straightforward. Automate's AML (Automation Markup Language) and AMA (Automate Archive) implementation is backward compatible allowing tasks constructed in legacy versions of Automate the ability to run without issues or modifications in newer versions of Automate or Automate Enterprise. In addition, Automate Enterprise supports importing all Automate exported file formats, including Automate Backup files.
