SMC Top Panel

Overview

The top panel (also known as header) is a fixed area that spans across the top of Server Management Console. This panel dynamically displays the title of the current page, which can be useful to new or novice users. The top panel may also be populated with specific controls depending on which page is being viewed. For instance, navigating to the Workflows or Repository page, the top panel will display buttons that enable one-click access to the most common workflow/task related commands and operations, such as New, Edit, Run and Properties. The title bar sits directly above the top panel and contains the usual Minimize, Maximize and Close icons. It also displays information about the current connection, which can be beneficial if managing multiple Automate Enterprise servers.

Compact Mode

On a daily basis, many perform the juggling act of interacting with multiple programs resulting in an increasingly cluttered screen. In such cases, you may require additional workspace to display more SMC elements or view more information. This can be accomplished by setting the top panel to compact mode. Simply right-click an empty region anywhere inside the panel and select Compact from the context menu that appears. The panel will become condensed while still containing all available buttons and controls (as shown below).

Top Panel Controls

The following table lists common controls that appear in the top header panel related to repository operations and dashboard items. They do not appear if viewing the Calendar, Reports or Options page.

Control Description
New Creates a new repository object (i.e. workflow, task, user, agent) or creates a new dashboard.
Edit Edits an existing repository object or dashboard item.
Run Runs the currently selected repository item (i.e. workflow, task, process).
Properties Displays the properties of the repository object or folder.
New Folder Creates a new folder in the specified location.
Delete Deletes the selected dashboard item.
