Credentials

Description

Allows you to create credential variables that store sensitive values (for example, passwords) to share among all or specific users and/or groups without exposing the value itself. You can identify credential variables by a key icon (see above) for specific parameters in certain activities and display which variables are accessible by a user when the user clicks on the icon.

To access the Credentials settings, select Options on the Server Management Console's navigation bar, and then select SettingsServer Settings > Credentials.

The following table displays the available Credentials preferences:

Property Description
Name The unique name of the credential variable (for example, Azure_password).
Value The password to use with the credential variable.
Comment An optional user-defined comment about the credential variable (for example, "This password is for all accounts.").
Enabled Specifies if the credential variable is globally enabled (default) or disabled.
Task Builder Visibility (Access) Displays the users and/or groups that have visibility to the credential variable in Task Builder.

Credential management

IMPORTANT: If Task Builder is open while you are managing credential variables, you must restart it to see your updates.

To add a credential variable

  1. On the Credentials window, select New.
  2. In the Name box, enter a unique name to identify the credential variable (for example, Azure_password).
  3. In the Value box, enter the corresponding password for the credential variable.

  4. In the Confirm Value box, re-enter the password.

  5. In the Comment box, optionally enter a custom description or comment.
  6. Leave the Enabled selected (default) to enable the credential variable globally. To globally disable the credential variable, clear the Enabled checkbox.
  7. For Task Builder Visibility, select one of the following options to determine which Automate users and/or groups have access to the credential variable in Task Builder:
    1. To give all users access, select All Users.
    2. To choose specific users and/or groups, select Limited by User/Group. Move the user and/or groups to the Select Group/User Name list by choosing them from the Available Group/User Name list, and then selecting Add.
  8. Select OK.

To modify an existing credential variable

  1. On the Credentials window, select a credential variable, and then select Modify.
  2. Make your desired changes to the credential variable, and then select OK.

To remove an existing credential variable

On the Credentials window, select a credential variable, and then select Remove.
