Attachment Browser |
Overview
One of the great features that PDF files possess is their ability to store attached files. Any kind of file, and any number of files, can be attached to a PDF. If you move the PDF file to a new location, the attachments move with it. Automate's PDF action contains activities that support adding, removing, retrieving or extracting PDF file attachments. The Attachment Browser is a convenient interface that comes equipped with the PDF action which allows users to view and select files that are attached to a PDF file directly without the need to open Adobe Acrobat, Reader or equivalent PDF viewers.
Using the Attachment Browser
The Attachment Browser is a very simple tool used during task development to provide a way for you to view or select attachments embedded in a PDF file. It is accessible from the properties of the PDF - Get attachments and PDF - Delete attachments activities.
To Access the Attachment Browser
- In the properties of the PDF - Get attachments or PDF - Delete attachments activity, scroll down to the Attachment properties, and then toggle the option Specific file.
- Click the folder icon on the right side of the text-box. Doing so opens the Attachment Browser (displayed below).
- Add a check-mark to the files you wish to retrieve or delete (depending on the activity chosen).
- Click Select to complete the operation, and then close the Attachment Browser. The files that you selected appear in the provided text-box delimited by a comma.
