Log Levels
You can configure SMTP log levels to determine the amount of information recorded in the SMTP log related to various SMTP activities.
You should only increase log levels above the Info level temporarily, for diagnostic purposes. Increasing the log levels can result in significantly enlarged log files, which can adversely affect disk space and performance. On a day-to-day basis you can use the Message Tracking facility to identify the whereabouts of messages Clearswift Gateway has processed. |
To change the SMTP log levels
- From the System Center Home page, click SMTP Settings. The SMTP Settings page appears.
- Click General Settings to display the General Settings page. The Log Levels area displays the current log levels.
- Move the mouse pointer over the Log Levels area and click Click here to change these settings.
-
Set a level for each of the indicated SMTP activities:
- When receiving messages
- When sending messages
- Activities related to SMTP Service plug-ins, such as the SpamLogic perimeter defenses
- Anti-Spam Components, such as the Mailshell and Rspamd services.
The higher the log level, from Error (low) to Debug (high), the more detail is logged. Each level adds detail while continuing to log the information of the lower levels. Show me the information logged at each SMTP log level
