Portal hints and tips

This topic contains some useful information on how to use the Personal Message Management (PMM) Portal.

The PMM Portal enables users to manage held messages that have been identified as junk email. When configured, a user can:

Log in to PMM

PMM sends configured users a daily digest with an overview of messages that have been sent to their inbox, and detected as 'junk' mail.

Users can deliver a held message directly from the digest, but to access more options, a user can also click Personal Message Management Portal and use their credentials to log into the portal.

Deliver a message to your inbox

The PMM Portal opens with the Messages tab displaying:

Select a message and click Deliver to send it to your inbox.

You can select and deliver multiple messages if required.

Messages might take a few minutes to be delivered.

Delete message from the Portal

These messages are not delivered to your inbox and are permanently deleted.

Trust a sender or domain

You can identify a sender or a sender's domain as a Trusted Sender. Messages sent from Trusted Senders are not classified as junk.

A dialog asks whether you want to Trust sender or Trust domain.

Selecting Trust domain ensures that messages from any email address in a domain are subsequently delivered to your inbox. This is particularly useful for recurring messages such as newsletters.

The Gateway will not classify future messages from Trusted Senders as junk, and will not hold them in the PMM area.

Manage your trusted senders

You can use wildcards in Trusted Sender email addresses. For example: *info*@company.com, *@company.com.

Manage a shared mailbox

You can manage the inbox of another individual, provided you have permissions from your system administrator. This might be useful if the owner of the mailbox is away from the organization, or is unable to access messages.

The dialog box enables you to add a mailbox address. When added, the mailbox appears in your Mailboxes panel on the Messages tab.

Inform the system that a message is 'Not Junk'

The Not Junk button indicates that a selected message can be classified as 'not junk'. This enhances the system's future ability to detect junk mail.

Change the display language

PMM Portal can be displayed in several different languages. By default, the display language is English, but a user can switch to a different view, using the Options tab.
