Track Messages

Using the Track Message feature, you can search for messages that have recently been processed by Secure Email Gateway. From the search results, you can track the history of each message, displaying message events in detail.

You must have Message Tracking enabled to use this feature.

• Why I might need to track a message

  The ability to track a message could be critical for users who are expecting emails that have not been delivered. Tracking a message might help you to discover when and why a message was held, and in which message area. You can display the complete history of a message as it interacted with the Gateway.

  Message tracking also enables you to search in a variety of ways. It is a useful tool for locating:

  • Messages sent to or from a particular user
  • Processed or discarded messages
  • Messages rejected by the Gateway for a particular reason
  • Messages with a particular attachment

• The Track Message page

  The Track Message page enables you to search for messages that have been handled by the Gateway.

  Click Message Center > Track Messages.

  The Track Message page displays a list of search criteria that can be used to locate messages.

How do I...

• Enable Message Tracking?

  In order to use Message Tracking, you must ensure that the Gateway is configured to record the data used by message tracking and reports.

  1. Click System Settings > Tracking and Report Settings. The Tracking and Reporting Settings page is displayed.
  2. In the Recording Data section, click Click here to change these settings.
  3. Select the check box to enable recording of data.
  4. Save.

  You can also use this page to set the Date Range settings and Retention Time. The Date Range defines how the Gateway classifies the start and end of the week. Retention Time controls the amount of time data is retained for reporting and tracking. See Tracking And Report Settings for more information.
