Define Portal Settings

You can define how the PMM system will appear on your network, including the role of each of the Mail peers. The following can be defined:

If you change the network address of PMM Portal in Red Hat Cockpit, you will also need to re-apply the Portal role and new network address before you can access the Portal.

Change the PMM Portal Host Name

The PMM Portal host name is the name by which the PMM Portal is known within the DNS system of your organization.

To change the PMM Portal Host Name:

  1. Navigate to System > PMM Settings > Portal Settings. The Portal Settings page is displayed.
  2. Beside the PMM Portal Host Name area, click Click here to change these settings.
  3. Select the host name for the PMM Portal.
  4. Click Save. The summary will be updated with the new details.
The PMM Portal Host Name needs to be mapped to the IP address of the portal. If the portal is subsequently reconfigured to Lite mode or run on a different peer, this IP address will no longer be valid and, therefore, links in digests will no longer work. To resolve this issue, change the DNS to remap the host or provide a new host name.

Change the Peer Roles within PMM

You can select which peer will act as PMM Portal, if licensed, and/or the PMM digest generator and/or the Mobile Connector by changing the entries in the list of all the PMM Peers within your Gateway system.

The following information is listed for each peer:

If the Portal is configured to share the same NIC as the administration UI, the IP addresses for both the PMM Portal and the UI must be on the same network.

Enable or disable the Peer as a Portal, Digest Generator, or Mobile Connector

  1. Navigate to System > PMM Settings > Portal Settings. The Portal Settings page is displayed.
  2. Navigate to the Peer Roles within PMM area and in the PMM Peers list, select a peer by clicking the check box next to the list entry.
  3. To enable or disable the peer as a Portal, click Enable Portal or Disable Portal, as required.
The Role column will be updated appropriately.
  4. To enable or disable the peer as a Digest, click Enable Digest or Disable Digest, as required.
The Role column will be updated appropriately.
  5. To enable or disable the peer as a Mobile Connector, click Enable Mobile Connector or Disable Mobile Connector, as required.
The Role column will be updated appropriately.

  6. Click OK. The summary will be updated with the new details.

Change the HTTP/HTTPS Protocol

You can select whether you want users to access the portal using an HTTP or HTTPS link.

When configuring the portal to use HTTPS links, you need to specify a separate IP address for the portal. Refer to Change the PMM Portal Peer Network Details for more information.

  1. Navigate to System > PMM Settings > Portal Settings. The Portal Settings page is displayed.
  2. Select a peer from the list.
  3. Click Edit to display the PMM Portal Peer Network Configuration dialog.

To change the expiry time:

  1. Navigate to System > PMM Settings > Portal Settings. The Portal Settings page is displayed.

  3. Select the check box and specify the number of days. If the check box is not selected, messages will be removed on the same day as they are released or deleted.
  4. Click Save. The summary will be updated with the new details.
If you change any configuration settings other than system time you must apply the configuration for the changes to take effect. If you use Peer Gateways (i.e. when multiple Gateways are peered), any configuration changes from a local Gateway can then be applied to all the peers at the same time. See Configure Peer Gateways for more information.
