Email Address Lists
An Email Address List is a grouping of email addresses of one or more users to whom you want to apply a common policy. These groupings typically represent users who share a common link within your organization, for example:
- Functional groupings, for example, a sales department or regional office
- Role-oriented groupings, for example, managers
- Relational groupings, for example, company partners

Address Lists are used by the Email Gateway as the 'endpoints' of policy routes. For example, a Mail Policy Route might be defined between Managers and Sales Team. The SpamLogic Address Validation settings also use Address Lists. |
Mail policy routes and how they relate to Email Address lists
A mail policy route defines a "From" and "To" list of addresses. You configure these address lists from within your Gateway UI.
A policy route must reference two Address Lists to define the mail route on which the policy route will be applied. One Address List supplies the sender address, and the other Address List supplies the recipient address.
|
Your Gateway starter policy contains My Company and Anyone address lists. |
You apply a default decryption, delivery, and disposal action for messages that are matched with the route. You can, if required, apply content rules to the route to provide extra flexibility to the route. For more information, see Policy Routes.
Static Lists and LDAP Synchronized Lists
There are two types of list:
-
Static Address List
The entries in a Static List are defined and maintained by a local administrator. You can import lists of addresses into a Static Address List from a text file.
-
LDAP Synchronized Address List
An LDAP Synchronized List is synchronized with an LDAP server containing your user information. The LDAP Address List is refreshed automatically by the Gateway once every twenty four hours.

Use the Search text box to find Address Lists. The search button simultaneously applies your search criteria to both the list of Address Lists, and the entries contained within each Address List. List searches are not case-sensitive, and you can search for a fragment, or part of a word. A search also returns any wildcarded entries in the list. For example, searching for person@company.com returns *@company.com in your search results. Punycode searches are supported. |
