Traceroute to a host
The Traceroute to a host diagnostic tool enables you to check the route between the Gateway and any host. The Traceroute to a host test is based on the traceroute command.
The test results include:
- A summary
- Details for each hop in the route between the Gateway and the host that you entered
Trace a route to a host

Under the System menu, select a submenu under which Traceroute to a host is displayed in the task panel. The Traceroute to a host dialog is displayed.
Depending on a submenu you select under the System menu, Traceroute to a host may not be displayed in the task panel.
Select a submenu under which Traceroute to a host is available, for example, System > Configuration > Apply Configuration, and System > System Settings > Ethernet Settings.

Complete the dialog fields:
- Host: A hostname or IP address to trace.
- Resolve addresses check box: Check this box to specify that the test results include the resolved hostname for each hop.
- Hop timeout: Enter the time to wait for a response from a hop. If there is no response within this time, a "*" is displayed in the test results for that hop. The value must be between 2 and 60 seconds.
- Max. Hops: Enter the maximum number of hops between the Gateway and the host. If the number of hops reaches the Max. Hops value, the test stops at that hop. The value must be between 1 and 100.
- Click Run Test.
