Creating a Machine List
References to Email policy content are only available when an Email Gateway is included in the peer group. |
You create Machine Lists to define the machines in a policy route.
To create a Machine List
- From the Policy References area on the Policy Center Home page, click Machines. The Manage Machine Lists page appears, listing any existing Machine Lists.
- Click
New adjacent to the Machines header.
- The Overview area enables you to provide a name and optional notes for the Machine List. To edit the Overview information:
- Move the mouse pointer over the Overview area and click Click here to change these settings.
- Edit the Name if required. Clearswift Gateway provides a default name. Change this to something more meaningful, if required.
- Edit the Notes if required. You can insert, change, or delete text in this field, which is empty by default.
- Click Save.
- To add addresses to the list:
- Move the mouse pointer
over the Machine Addresses area and click
New. The New dialog appears in the task panel.
- In Machine Address, type a machine's IP address, which must be in the format: nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn. You can construct an address mask using the asterisk wildcard character to specify a range of addresses. For example, 10.44.21.* or 10.44.*.
A machine can also be defined by a fully
qualified domain name. You
can construct an address mask using the asterisk wildcard character in
the initial portion of the domain to specify ranges of hostnames. For

- Click the Add button below the Address. (The Add button is not selectable unless you have entered an address in the correct format.)
- The addresses you defined are listed in the Addresses panel.
- To edit or remove an address:
- Move the mouse pointer over the Addresses area and select the address to edit.
- Select
Edit or
Delete, as required.
