Browsing Time Policy

You can set the browsing time policy for your Secure Web Gateway.

Specify the Browsing Time Policy

  1. Navigate to Policy > Manage Policy Definition > Global Web Policy. The Global Web Policy page is displayed.
  2. In the Browsing Time Policy panel, click Click here to change these settings.
  3. By default, Secure Web Gateway makes the following assumptions about the Browsing Time:

    • A user will take a maximum of 120 seconds to read a page before moving to the next. You can enter a new value between 2 and 600 seconds.
    • If a user overrides a block page allow an additional 10 minutes browsing time. You can enter a new value between 5 and 60 minutes.

This is the value referred to as a 'short time' by the block page encountered by the user:

You can continue browsing for a short time.

    • If enabled by specifying the default action to be performed on requests and responses on the route (see Editing A Policy Route), the user will be shown a warning page when their browsing quota has 10 minutes left. You can enter a new value between 5 and 60 minutes.
  4. Click Save.

  5. Apply the configuration.

If you change any configuration or policy settings, you must Apply Configuration for the new settings to take effect. You can do this either from the Changes Made panel, or System > ConfigurationApply Configuration. See Apply new configuration for more information.

If you use Peer Gateways (i.e. when multiple Gateways are peered), any configuration changes from a local Gateway can then be applied to all the peers at the same time. See Configure Peer Gateways for more information.
