Peer Gateways

You can configure up to eight Gateway products to form a peer group. These Peer Gateways work together in the group. Any configuration changes from a local Gateway can then be applied to all the peers at the same time.

Peer Gateways can provide redundancy in the event of a failure, and can share the processing load.

From the local Gateway, you can manage peers in the following ways:

Create a security policy, and apply it to all Peer Gateways
Monitor the status of Peer Gateways
Run consolidated reports throughout the Peer Group

Web user interface for Peer Gateways

When you peer Secure Web Gateway with other types of Gateways, you will see features in one that are only supported in the other. For example:

If Secure Web Gateway and Secure Email Gateway are peered, you can configure each Gateway from a single Policy menu. Although SpamLogic Settings is only available to Secure Email Gateway (when used independently), you can configure it from the Policy menu on Secure Web Gateway. You can also configure Policy References that are exclusive to either Secure Web Gateway or Secure Email Gateway from a single Policy menu.

In case the feature displayed under a peered Gateway's user interface is not applicable to that particular peer, a message indicating this is displayed. For example:

If Secure Email Gateway and Secure Exchange Gateway are peered, you will see SpamLogic Settings on your Secure Exchange Gateway's user interface along with a note, informing that those settings will not apply to the Exchange Gateway.
