Report Data Settings

You can use the Report Data Settings page to configure the way Secure Web Gateway records and stores web-traffic data.

When enabled, recorded date is used:

• to generate reports available from the Reports menu

Enable reporting

To use reports, your Secure Web Gateway needs to be configured to record the data used by these reports.

1. Navigate to System > Gateway Settings > Report Data Settings. The Report Data Settings page is displayed.
2. In the Traffic Audit panel, click Click here to change these settings.
3. Select the Enable the recording of traffic audit data check box. Also select the categories to activate data recording.
4. Click Save.

• Date Range Settings

  Date Range Settings defines the start and end day of a week. By default, the Gateway defines a week as Sunday to Saturday. Click Click here to change these settings. You can select the start and end days using the drop-down menus.

  This setting is used for a number of Date Ranges. Changing the definition of a week will affect all queries using This Week and Last Week parameters.

  Report days begin at 00:00 and end immediately before 00:00:00 on the next day. Therefore, a custom date range between Sunday 2/8/2015 and Saturday 8/8/2015 records data from Sunday, 2/8/2015 00:00 and before Sunday, 9/8/2015 00:00:00.

• Retention Time

  Retention Time determines the period of time for which data is stored by Secure Web Gateway. You can configure the storage time for two types of data:

  • Summary Reporting

    Data displayed by summary reports generated by the Reports Center. The default storage time for summary reporting data is 30 days.

  • Detailed Reporting

    Detailed information displayed by drill-down reports . The default storage time for detailed reporting data is 14 days.

  Click Click here to change these settings and enter the number of days to store each type of data. Click Save to save your changes.

  If you want to reduce the size of the database by reducing the data retention time, use the Database Optimization page to shrink the database.

How do I...

• Purge the reporting database of old data?

  The database is purged automatically on a daily basis. You can set when the purge is performed by setting the Purge old data at time under Data Retention. However you can also manually remove old data at any time.

  In the task panel, click Purge Now.

  Purging the database might take a considerable amount of time. You cannot schedule or apply a purge within 21 hours of the previous purge operation.

The current size of the report database is shown at the top of the page. If you change any configuration or policy settings, you must Apply Configuration for the new settings to take effect. You can do this either from the Changes Made panel, or System > Configuration > Apply Configuration. See Apply new configuration for more information. If you use Peer Gateways (i.e. when multiple Gateways are peered), any configuration changes from a local Gateway can then be applied to all the peers at the same time.
