Create, edit or delete a disposal action

You can create a new disposal action to do the following:

Create a disposal action

  1. Navigate to Policy > Policy References > Disposal Actions. The Manage Disposal Actions page is displayed.
  2. Select the tab for the type of disposal action to create:

    • Select Message Areas to create a disposal action that writes detected messages to a message area.
  3. Click New. The Add Message Area dialog appears.
  4. In the Add Message Area dialog:

    • Specify a name for the new message area and the expiry period after which Secure Exchange Gateway is to delete a held message.
    • To enable the message area for use with PMM, click the PMM tab, and select one or more Address Lists of users who will be able to delete or release their messages from the message area. For more information, see Enabling Message Areas for PMM Access.
    • See Defining a release schedule below for information on setting up scheduled release of messages.
  5. Click Add to add the new disposal action to the list.

 

  • To use a disposal action you must associate it with one or more content rules or policy routes. You can associate up to two disposal actions with a content rule.
  • When you have finished modifying your content security policy, you must apply the configuration for any changes to take effect.If you use Peer Gateways (i.e. when multiple Gateways are peered), any configuration changes from a local Gateway can then be applied to all the peers at the same time. See Configure Peer Gateways for more information.

 

If you release a message, Secure Exchange Gateway honors the primary and secondary Relay to or Deliver disposal actions of the next triggered rule (or those of the route default) where applicable.If you release a message, Secure Exchange Gateway honors the primary and secondary Deliver disposal actions of the next triggered rule (or those of the route default) where applicable.

Edit a disposal action

You can edit the details of disposal action, for example to change the name of the message area, or to change the expiry period for messages held in that area.

  1. Navigate to Policy > Policy References > Disposal Actions. The Manage Disposal Actions page is displayed.

    • Select the Message Areas tab to display the Message Area disposal actions.
  2. Select the disposal action you wish to edit and click Edit.
  3. After selecting a disposal action, the Edit Message Area dialog appears:

    • Specify a name for the message area and an expiry period after which Secure Exchange Gateway is to delete a held message.
    • If you have configured PMM and you want to enable the message area for use with PMM, select the PMM tab and select one or more Address Lists of users who will be able to delete or release their messages from the message area. For more information, see Enabling Message Areas for PMM Access.
    • If you have configured a release schedule for the message area, select the Release Schedule tab, and edit the release schedule values.
    • See Notifying Sender on Release for information about configuring the notification of a sender when a message is released.
    • See Notifying Auditor on Release for information about configuring the notification of an auditor when a message is released.
  4. Click Update to update the details of the disposal action.

 

  • When you have finished modifying your content security policy, you must apply the configuration for any changes to take effect.If you use Peer Gateways (i.e. when multiple Gateways are peered), any configuration changes from a local Gateway can then be applied to all the peers at the same time. Delete a disposal action

You can remove a disposal action from Secure Exchange Gateway if you no longer wish to use it in your policy.

 

You cannot delete Closedsystem disposal actions, or disposal actions currently referenced by content rules or policy routes.

System disposal actions are the standard disposal actions provided with Secure Exchange Gateway. They are indicated in the disposal action list by the text (system) adjacent to the name of the action.

  1. Navigate to Policy > Policy References > Disposal Actions. The Manage Disposal Actions page is displayed.
  2. Select the disposal action you wish to delete.
  3. Click Delete adjacent to the "n Items" heading. The Confirm Delete dialog is displayed.
  1. Click Yes in the Confirm Delete dialog to confirm the removal.

 

  • If you delete a message area disposal action, the action is no longer available when creating policy. However, Secure Exchange Gateway does not remove the associated message area until it is empty of messages.
  • When you have finished modifying your content security policy, you must apply the configuration for any changes to take effect.If you use Peer Gateways (i.e. when multiple Gateways are peered), any configuration changes from a local Gateway can then be applied to all the peers at the same time.
