Alarm Repetitions

In some instances, alarms can be triggered repeatedly; this may be problematic for the user, it may congest the alarm log, or perhaps the event lacks importance at times. In this tab, you can specify different actions depending on an event’s frequency.

To enable Event Manager to suppress repetition in case an alarm is triggered

  1. Select the alarm on the Alarms tree, and click the Repetitions tab from the alarm’s panel that appears.
  2. To prevent the alarm from repeating, click the on/off switch. A panel appears below the switch, with two more sections:
  • Repetition Definition
  • Action To Be Performed
  1. Enter a value in both the Times count and Interval in minutes fields. One repetition is counted every time the alarm repeats this many number of times in this number of minutes.
  2. To set the repetition counter to zero, click the Reset Counters button .

Repetition Definition section

  1. In the Repetition Definition section, select an option:
  • Every event: the repetition counter will consider every instance of this alarm- triggering event in its calculated count.
  • Events with identical values in some variables: the repetition counter will consider into its calculation any instances where the specified variables appear in any of your alarms. If you select this option, a field appears below the check box into which variables can be entered.

Action To Be Performed Section

In the Action to do section, select an Action to do:

  • Disable actions for some time: if you select this option, a field appears below the check box:
    • Enter a number in the Interval in minutes count field. This is the number of minutes that Event Manager will give you until it starts to perform the triggered alarm’s actions.
  • Execute an action set: if you select this option, a drop-down list box appears below the check box.
    • Select an action set from the drop-down menu. When an alarm reaches a repetitive state, this action set should perform useful tasks on your behalf.
  • Reset the repetition counter to zero: if you select this option, the alarm’s repetition counter will go to zero every time it is in a state of repetition. If the Repetition Definition is set to Events with identical values in some variables, clicking this check box opens two options below.
    • For all the repetition counters: if you select this option, no counter will count this alarm.
    • For the repetition counter for alarms with identical variables: If you select this option, the variable instance counter won't take account of variables in other alarms. However, the repetition counter of the alarm itself will function as normal.
