Edit inserted fields
An inserted field looks no different from any other text until you click it.
To add text to the existing text, press and hold Ctrl and single-click the field. The field turns light gray. The existing text remains as you begin to type in the field to add new text.
OR
To overwrite existing text, press and hold Ctrl and select the field using the mouse. The field turns dark gray. As you begin to type new text for the field, the existing text disappears.
After you finish editing field text, click anywhere else on the page to confirm the changes.
You can also insert a page’s fields within its own page area, by choosing Insert > Field, or within another page, by choosing Insert > Field or Link > Link to a Page Using > Other Fields. In both cases, first click the page area to indicate where you want CuteSITE Builder to insert the field. In the latter case, you can then choose whether you want the inserted field to be a link or simply a reference that updates automatically, but without linking.
Inserting fields can save time, since you have to update information in only one place, and the changes will appear in all other instances. For example, many CuteSITE Builder templates have a space for your name and company name on the title page; these items are actually fields that can be referenced from other pages, to save your having to type the information again. (For details, see How To Use This Template – II in each specific template.)
To delete a field, highlight the field and press the Delete key. CuteSITE Builder displays a message warning you that you are about to delete the field. This same message appears if you highlight a larger block of text that includes a field.
You can format the text in a field (for example, add a bold attribute or change the type size) in the same way you format any other text in the page.
You can insert a page’s fields even if you have not yet entered information for them in the page’s Properties dialog box. To indicate the field, CuteSITE Builder inserts placeholder text; for example, —Type Title Here —. If you edit this placeholder text, the changes you make will also appear in the page’s Properties dialog box, as well as in any links on other pages that use the field information.
Define custom fields using the Page Properties dialog box.
For examples of what inserted fields and field links can look like while being edited or formatted, see the Fields Overview.
