Create a container page
A container page is a CuteSITE Builder page that surrounds or references another CuteSITE Builder page, a Web or intranet page, captured HTML pages, or an external file in its page body. In the container page's narration border, you can add text that explains why your visitor should view its contents.
Important Container page references to Web pages or external files are hyperlinks to material outside the CuteSITE Builder file, not objects embedded in the file. When you distribute files that contain these links, you must ensure that your visitors have the same access to the Web page or external file that you had when you created the container page. If the link is to an external file, other visitors must store the external file in the same folder on the same path as was on your system, and have access to the file’s native application, for the file to appear when they display the container page. If you want your content to be contained within a CuteSITE Builder file, either insert an object or capture HTML pages option.
As with any CuteSITE Builder page, you can customize the borders of container pages and add field information through the Page Properties dialog box.
Create a container page by browsing
1. Right-click the map and choose Insert Container Page.
2. Click the Container Page Contents drop-down arrow and select what you want to include in the page body of the container page:
None creates a blank container page for later use.
CuteSITE Builder Page lets you reference a read-only version of one of the other pages in the current file. Such references are useful when you want the same information to appear in multiple locations. For example, a page could appear once in the main body of the file, and then reappear several times on different tours.
URL lets you display an external Web page (from an intranet or the World Wide Web) in your CuteSITE Builder file.
File lets you display any external file (including another CuteSITE Builder file) for which you have an editing application. Each container page can include a single file.
Captured Resource launches the Captured Resource Editor, an HTML capture tool that lets you embed multiple HTML files in a single container page.
3 In the field(s) below the drop-down box, specify the exact location of the material you have chosen.
In the case of a URL, you can use Browse to find the exact intranet or Web reference. You then need to copy that string and paste it into the space provided.
In the case of an external file, you must enter its full name and path. Click Browse to choose from a list.
If you are displaying another CuteSITE Builder page in the container page, click Browse and select the CuteSITE Builder page from the list. You can only select a page in the current file.
You can also use the Captured Resource Editor to specify the location of pages to be embedded. When you exit from this editor, a resource number will be placed here.
4 (Optional) If you are displaying another CuteSITE Builder page in the container page, choose whether you want to display the full page area (including borders) of the CuteSITE Builder page in the container page, of if you want to display just the page body of the CuteSITE Builder page.
The content you have specified appears in the page area of the container page. By default, CuteSITE Builder creates a narration border to the left of the page area in which you can annotate the container page. You can change the appearance of this border, add other borders, or display no borders for the container page.
CuteSITE Builder indicates container pages in the map with a red dot.
Create a container page by dragging a URL
If you have Internet Explorer 4 or Netscape Navigator 4, you can drag icons that represent URLs into a CuteSITE Builder map to quickly create container pages with references to Web or intranet content.
1. In your browser, browse to the page you want to link to.
2. Find the little symbol that represents this address. In Netscape Navigator, this is the icon to the left of the word Location. In Internet Explorer, this is the icon between the word Address and the actual URL.
3. In CuteSITE Builder, click on the map so that it has focus.
4. Drag the address symbol from the browser into the CuteSITE Builder map and release it. The URL you dragged appears in the page area of a newly created container page.
Create a container page by dragging a file
1. In the Windows Explorer, find the file you want to link to.
2. In CuteSITE Builder, click on the map so that it has focus.
3. Drag the file's icon from Explorer into the CuteSITE Builder map and release it. The file you dragged appears in the page area of a newly created container page.
Notes
You can also choose Insert > Container Page to add a container page.
You can change the page properties of a container page just as you would any other CuteSITE Builder page. The only difference is that the Container Page Properties dialog box includes a Contents tab with which you can change the contents of the container page.
Within container page areas, the only page body properties you can change for container pages are edge color and width. You can change all border properties.
Using container pages that contain other CuteSITE Builder pages lets you include the same CuteSITE Builder page in multiple tour sequences and to customize the pages with information specific to each tour without affecting the text of the "original" page. When you choose Add Page to Tour to add the current page to a tour sequence, CuteSITE Builder automatically creates a container page and adds it to the current tour sequence.
When you add a container page to a sequence or tour sequence, the Next and Previous links in the narration border become active.
In order to display a Web page or external file in a CuteSITE Builder page, you must have a Web browser control installed, and it must be properly configured, but the specific type of browser control does not matter. (The only 32-bit Windows version known not to have a basic Web browser control available is Windows 95A without the Plus Pak.) In order to display an external file, you must also have access on your system to the file and to the application in which the file was created.
You can optionally disable the display of captured HTML pages, and other content that uses a browser control for display, by choosing Tools > Options, clicking the Text tab, and then selecting Quick-loading only.
You can also create a link to a URL or file in a CuteSITE Builder page, or create such a link from a map element. When you or a visitor clicks the link, CuteSITE Builder opens the actual page on the Web or the file in its native application. Again, visitors must have the same access to the Web page or external file as you in order to use the link.
You can also create a link to a specific page within an external CuteSITE Builder file.
