Create an anchor link
Anchor links let you create links, within or among pages, whose destination is a paragraph that is not at the top of a page. To create them, you must first create an anchor, and then create a link to it.
1. In the page area, right-click where you want the anchor to appear and choose Insert > Anchor.
2. Place the anchor on a line by itself, or in a place where a small empty space will not be noticed.
3. Enter a name for the anchor. This name can be an internal name, meaningful only to you, or a name that you want to use as the text of your anchor links (much as you can use field links to retrieve text from other pages).
4. Click OK. An anchor symbol appears.
5. Move to the location where you want the anchor link to originate. Select text to use as the link text, or simply place the cursor, and then right-click.
6. Choose Link to an Anchor on > Current Page or Link to an Anchor on > Another Page. A list of available anchors appears, listed in order by name.
7. Select one and click OK.
Notes
You can also choose Insert > Anchor and Link > Link to an Anchor on to create anchor links.
By default, a small anchor symbol appears at the site of each anchor. If the symbol does not appear while you are editing, choose Tools > Options and click Show Hidden Characters > Named anchors.
Be sure to place anchors on a blank line above the paragraph to which they apply. Browsers reserve a small space for the anchor, and this will ensure that it is not noticeable.
