Unlock static text in page layouts
Static text is content (including pictures and objects) that comes automatically from the page layout applied to each page. For example, in most CuteSITE Builder page layouts, the navigation links and the title field are static.
When you hover over static text, your cursor changes to a lock symbol. To edit static text, you must first unlock it.
Edit static text in a single location
1. Select the static text you want to change and right-click within the selection.
Some navigation buttons are in tables, making it difficult to get the right-click menu that contains the Unlock Static Text menu option. In these cases, select the entire table (starting from before the table through the end) until you see a solid highlight (as opposed to an outline), and then right-click in a section of the highlighting that is not over a pictures.
2. Choose Unlock Static Text. A dialog box offers you two options.
3. Select the Unlock selected static text for this page only option.
4. Once you click OK, you can edit or delete the static text and type your own text in the area.
Change static text everywhere it appears
Instead of unlocking static text in just this single page, you can also modify the current page layout so this text is changed everywhere it is used.
1. Select the static text you want to change and right-click within the selection.
2. Choose Unlock Static Text. A dialog box offers you two options.
3. Select the Switch to Page Layout Editor option.
4. Click OK.
5. Use the Page Layout Editor to modify the text in the layout.
6. Click Finished.
Notes
You can also use Tools > Page Layout Editor to begin working with page layouts.
Use caution when editing static text in CuteSITE Builder page layouts. Moving or deleting static text areas may create compatibility problems when switching page layouts and when changing between CuteSITE Builder designs.
When you create a new page layout or modify an existing page layout, any text and pictures that appear in the model page you are using automatically become static text.
For more information about modifying and creating page layouts for Web designs, see Hints for Creating Web Designs.
Navigation buttons are sometimes placed in tables to ensure correct positioning when they are published to the Web. However, in such tables it can be difficult to get the right-click menu that contains the Unlock Static Text menu option. In these cases, select the entire table (starting from before the table through the end) until you see a solid highlight (as opposed to an outline), and then right-click in a section of the highlighting that is not over a picture.
