When you connect to a site you can encrypt your password to protect it from interception. When connecting with an encrypted password, the server has to support the same encryption scheme.
Click the Site Manager tab.
Highlight a site.
On the menu bar click File > Properties.
Click the Type tab
In Protocol type, make sure FTP (standard File Transfer Protocol) is selected.
Select an encryption method in the Password Protection group. Choose from:

MD5
Auto detect OTP
Click Connect or OK.

If you are creating a new FTP with SSL site and want to use password encryption. Create the site as a standard FTP site, then follow steps four through eight above.
Not Encrypted - the password is sent unprotected to the server.
MD4 (S/Key) - A system that encrypts your password a different way every time it is sent.
MD5 (S/Key) - The same system as MD4, with more complex encryption scheme.
Auto detect OTP - CuteFTP Pro tries to detect the encryption method the server uses.
