Smart Overwrite settings

When you try to transfer a file to a destination with a file of the same name, use Smart Overwrite to determine the proper action to take. Smart overwrite settings apply to both uploads and downloads.  Some servers are case sensitive. Such servers will not recognize files names as identical if the letter case of the two file names does not match.

To access the Smart Overwrite settings

  1. On the menu bar, go to Tools > Global Options.

  2. Expand Transfer.

  3. Click Smart Overwrite.

Use this group of lists to define what action CuteFTP Pro will take when two files have the same name.  You must select Use defined overwrite rule for existing destination file to enable these options.

For more information see the Smart Overwrite Example.

Choose an action in this list for situations when there is no rule defined that applies to a transfer involving two files with the same name.

Choose an action from this list for transfers involving two folders with the same name.

Note If you frequently need to transfer entire folders you may want to consider using Folder Synchronization.
