Extended search and replace

With this command you can search for a block of text and replace it in an extended manner. Text can be searched and replaced across many different documents found in the same directory or belonging to the same project.

You can enter one or more words in the "Text to find box" and CuteHTML Pro will show you where the first match of characters is found in the document as well as the name of the document where the search is being done. You can then replace them with another string.

To replace text by blocks:

  1. From the Edit menu, click on Replace by.
    Or
    In the
    Standard toolbar, click on the Replace by icon. You can also use the shortcut SHIFT+CTRL+X (Refer to list of shortcuts).

  1. Enter the text you are looking for in the Text to find box.
    You can also use the copy/paste method to insert text in this box.

  2. Enter the text that is going to replace the text you are looking for in the Text to replace box.

  3. Click on the Add button if you have chosen the Specified files option and select the files in which you want to perform the replacement

    Click on the Browser button if you have chosen the Search in directories and select the directories.

  4. Click on the Start button to begin replacing.

To stop the current search, click on the Stop button.

 

The "Replace by" dialog box has the following options:

Case sensitive

If this option is selected, the search will find only those occurrences with the exact combination of uppercase and lowercase letters specified in the "Text to find" box. For example, if you search for the word Editor, you will find the word Editor but not the word editor.

 

Backup modified file

If this option is selected, the modified file will be saved with the same file name and the specified extension name. By default, CuteHTML Pro uses the .bak extension for backup files.

Extension name

Specifies the extension name for the backup file.

Specified files

If selected, this option allows you to replace the "text to find" by the text indicated in the Text to replace box only in those files specified for the search.

Search all files in project

If selected, this option allows you to replace the "text to find" by the text indicated in the Text to replace box in all the files in the project.
The files must be opened before performing the text search and replace.
This option is not available if the file does not belong to any project.

Search in directories

If selected, this option allows you to replace the "text to find" with the text indicated in the Text to replace in all the files found in the directory selected for the search.

Include subdirectories

If selected, this option allows you to replace the "text to find" with the text indicated in the Text to replace area in all the files found in the subdirectories belonging to the directory selected for the search.
