E -Mailing User Passwords

When you create or change a user account, you can e-mail the user's passwords in the New User Account Setup and Change User Password dialog boxes.

SMTP must be configured on EFT Server.

The e-mail consists of a basic message with dynamic tags for username and password. The e-mail template, credentialstemplate.txt, is provided in the EFT Server installation directory (by default, C:\Program Files\GlobalSCAPE\EFT) so that advanced users can edit the content, add host information, and so on.

The default e-mail contains the following text and variables:

Subject:

Automated message from EFT Server administrator

Message:

%First_Name% %Last_Name%,

Your account login credentials have been created or were modified.

Your new username and password are provided below:

Username: %username%

Password: %password%

This is an automated message. Please do not reply directly.

To e-mail a user a password

  1. In the Change User Password dialog box or the New User Account Setup wizard, type the user's e-mail address, then check the E-mail login credentials check box.

  2. Click OK in the Change User Password dialog box or Finish in the New User Account Setup wizard. EFT Server sends the password to the user's e-mail address.
