Allowing the Mode Z Command for Users

Mode Z compression compresses files on the fly for file transfers, saving bandwidth and improving transfer times. The client must also support MODE Z to take advantage of this feature. If MODE Z is enabled, EFT Server will listen for MODE Z requests, then enable it for subsequent transfers from the client that requested it.

To allow a client to use Mode Z compression

  1. In the administration interface, connect to EFT Server and click the Server tab.

  2. In the left pane, click the user account that you want to configure.

  3. In the right pane, click the Connections tab.

  4. Click FTP Config. The FTP Settings dialog box appears.

  5. Select the Allow MODE Z Compression check box.

  6. Click OK to close the FTP Settings dialog box.

  7. Click Apply to save the changes on EFT Server.
