The AS2 module is installed when you install EFT Server and is available to evaluate during EFT Server trial; however, the AS2 module is disabled by default. The AS2 module requires a unique serial number for activation. If you have purchased a license for the module, you can provide the module's serial number in the Administrator after installation. When EFT Server trial expires, the AS2 module trial also expires.
You must have more than the minimum required RAM if you are transferring large non-EDI files over AS2. Additional RAM could be required for high-density, non-EDI file transfers over the AS2 protocol. For example, on a Server with 2GB of system memory, the cumulative size of all files being sent or received from/to that AS2 client at one time must not exceed roughly 800MB. Each time a file transfer starts, EFT Server's AS2 module must reserve a slice of memory for that file. The reserved memory is not released until the transfer is complete. If the reserved memory is more than what is available, the operating system (Windows) resorts to using the hard disk cache, which is much slower than RAM and can drastically reduce the Server performance.
You must have .NET installed and configured. During installation, EFT Server determines whether version 2.0 or newer of the .NET framework is installed, and if not installed, prompts you to install it.
If a message appears that says Microsoft .NET framework is not properly installed, run the ASP.NET IIS Registration Tool, a utility that comes packaged with the .Net Framework, to register .NET with IIS. The file, by default stored in C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\<version>, is called aspnet_regiis.exe and you must pass in the "-i" parameter.
To run the ASP.NET Registration Tool
At command prompt, change to the directory that
contains the executable. For example, type:
cd C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727
Type the following, then press ENTER:
aspnet_regiis.exe -i
ASP.NET is installed and registered.
For more information about the ASP.NET IIS Registration Tool, refer to http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/k6h9cz8h(VS.80).aspx.
You must have the Auditing and Reporting module installed. The installer updates the ARM database with AS2 tables; however, if you are using a SQL database, you will have to update your table schema manually. If the ARM database fails, AS2 functionality is not available. If ARM is not installed/configured, the AS2 module sees that as a database failure. If the database is unavailable, the current transaction will fail, but subsequent transactions will succeed (provided the database becomes available again).
If the AS2 module is not activated, the following events occur when the AS2 module trial has expired:
All incoming AS2 connections are rejected and ARM audits the failure in the ARM database as "AS2 evaluation license expired."
Any Event Rule that contains an AS2 Send File to host Action will not fire, the If Failed Action triggers, and ARM audits the outbound failure in the ARM database as "AS2 evaluation license expired."
All Enable AS2 over HTTP/S check boxes are grayed out (disabled) and cannot be selected or cleared.
The AS2 Inbound tab, AS2 Outbound tab, and AS2 Transactions node are replaced with a blank screen and the following text:
The AS2 evaluation period has expired. Please contact your GlobalSCAPE account representative for an activation key.
The AS2 Send File to host Action is no longer available for Event Rules.
When the GlobalSCAPE Server service starts, EFT Server determines whether the AS2 module evaluation has expired. If it has, EFT Server logs the following message to the Windows Application Event log: "EFT Server: AS2 protocol module evaluation license expired."
