Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a network protocol that allows you to manage multiple network devices from one location. For example, you can set up SNMP to monitor network-attached devices for conditions that require your attention. The AWE can retrieve the information through the GET, GETNEXT, and GETBULK actions, or the agent will send data without being asked using the TRAP action. AWE can also send configuration updates or controlling requests through the SET action.

Ensure that the Windows SNMP tools are installed so that OID translation works. Fortunately, most people who use SNMP already have it activated; you cannot do SNMP without it.
Security rules might filter, block, or divert SNMP traps.
