Automate and Automate Desktop

Version 24.2.0

June 25, 2024

IMPORTANT:
  • Before installing Automate 24.2.0 or Automate Desktop 24.2.0, confirm your version of Windows is compatible with .NET Framework 4.8. See .NET Framework System Requirements for more information.
  • As of version 11.7.1, Automate is only available as a 64-bit installer. However, Agents can still be installed on both 32-bit and 64-bit platforms.

New Features
  • Agent Notifications

    • Automate only.

    • Adds the ability to send email notifications when an agent connects to or disconnects from the Automate server.

  • Dynamics 365 Action

    • Automate and Automate Desktop.

    • Adds the ability to automate a variety of common Dynamics 365 operations, such as managing contacts, retrieving records, tracking specific information, and uploading and downloading attachments.

  • EvaluateExpression(Expression) Extended Function

    • Automate and Automate Desktop.

    • Adds the ability to evaluate an Automate variable that contains an expression originating from a secondary source (for example, a database, Excel, JSON, etc.).

  • Web Browser Action Enhancement

    • Automate and Automate Desktop.

    • Added the “Use deep search” parameter to the Web Browser (Click), (Extract table), and (Get value) activities, which provides the ability to search for and allow the selection of HTML elements under shadow roots on websites with a shadow DOM structure.

Enhancements
  • To support backwards compatibility with legacy versions of AML, functions calls can now be used without parentheses in expressions.

NOTE: To ensure the performance and accuracy of Automate or Automate Desktop, it is recommended to use parentheses in your expressions.
  • The Help > Release Notes menu item in Automate and Automate Desktop now points to the Fortra Release Notes site.

  • The Automate RESTful API now supports the use of special characters in variable values. To use special characters, append '/v2' to the existing API endpoint and send variable values from the request body as a JSON payload.

  • Updated the Automate User Guide to include a new RESTful API section that provides the requirements for using Basic and Bearer authentication with the Automate RESTful API.

  • The description for the Automate RESTful API online documentation has been simplified and now also links to the RESTful API section of the Automate User Guide.

Fixes
  • The Active Directory (Create user) activity now correctly displays special characters.

  • The Compression (Decompress) activity now correctly decompresses large zip files.

  • Custom Actions now run correctly in subtasks.

  • The File System (Copy) activity's help page has been updated to clarify that the Destination parameter can copy/rename files, but it does not support renaming folders.

  • The FTP (Logon) activity no longer fails when the Proxy Type parameter is set to Default.

  • The HTTP (Post) activity no longer stops responding when the Expression Builder button is selected for the Request header - Value parameter.

  • The Terminal (Send keystrokes) activity now correctly sends special characters to a terminal window.

  • The Text (URL encode/decode) activity now supports the percent (%) character.

  • The Web Browser action no longer keeps temporary files when using the Chrome browser or the Edge browser.

  • The Web Browser action no longer randomly closes a previously opened browser window while a task is running.

  • The Automate RESTful API no longer returns an "Info: Bad Parameters" error message when using the comma (,) character in variable values for Workflow run and Task run requests.

  • Setting exclusions for a Schedule Event in the Workflow Designer no longer displays the “System InvalidOperationException: The service provider has not been configured yet.” error message.

Analytics & Reporting Cloud

Version: 4.10.0

June 30, 2024

New Features
There are no new features or enhancements in this release.
Fixes
  • Resolved a problem where the $(event.comp_machine_status) variable for Agent status was not populated consistently with the correct status when the customer used it as the Alarm name variable in a detection rule.

  • Resolved a problem in which adding an email template to a DG-built template that you tried to modify but are not allowed to caused the fields in the added email template to be populated with the DG template values and grayed out so you cannot change them.

Version: 4.9.0

June 10, 2024

New Features
Enhanced Incident Management for Enterprise Tenants
  • When viewing a child tenant incident in the Enterprise tenant, the incident entry on the Incident panel displays the child tenant to which the incident belongs.

  • When you create a new incident, either by dragging-and-dropping an event or alarm to the create incident box or clicking the box, the New Incident dialog box now includes a Tenant option where you select the tenant to which you are assigning the new incident. After you select the tenant, you can assign the incident to a user from the selected tenant.

  • When you are filtering the list of incidents, a Tenant option lets you filter the list to see incidents from a specific tenant. Search displays only tenants that have incidents on the list.

Fixes

  • Resolved a problem where the Source and Destination Device sections of the table details

pane were not properly populated with all the available device details.

  • Resolved a problem where custom data values were not properly populated in email

notifications generated by ARC detection rules.

Server

Version: 8.7.0

August 12, 2024

New Features
Microsoft Windows Server 2022 and SQL Server 2022 Support

With this release, you can run DG Server on Microsoft Windows Server 2022. And you can use SQL 2022 as well.

Added Policy Audit Report

To help you manage your policies, there is a new operational report in the DGMC—Policy Audit. It provides details about changes to policies, rules, and components such as lists, plus who and when the changes were made. You can also see the version information for policies and compare versions.

Adds logging for these changes to enable faster troubleshooting and auditing of policy changes:

  • Policy name and duration when imported

  • Rule parameter changes

  • Many more logging updates

For more information, refer to Policy Audit in the online help or “Policy Audit” in Digital Guardian Management Console Users Guide.

Enhancements
Optimized Policy Deployment and Import Processes

Enhanced policy management to make deployment run faster, more reliably and provide added feedback:

  • Allow you to deploy more than 50 policies at one time.

  • Prevent saving a rule that has an empty component list rule parameter. If you try to save a rule with an empty parameter, the DGMC reverts the parameter to the default value. This reduces the chances of unexpected rule operation .

  • Log rule parameter values that were changed from the DGMC rule parameters page.

  • No longer display a warning about policy deployment when you modify a policy while Queue Policies for Deployment when Modified is set to No. The policy is flagged for deployment.

Fixes
  • Resolved an issue where there was a delay before computers or users got policies assigned as intended after the Dynamic Group Sync job ran.

  • Resolved a problem where non-communicating Agents were not removed after the retention period passed, although the clean-up job was running correctly.

  • Resolved an issue where the DGMC was not pushing updated component lists to Agents properly causing errors on the Agents.

  • Resolved an issue where there was a delay before computers or users got policies assigned as intended after the Dynamic Group Sync job ran.

  • Resolved an issue that caused dynamic group sync jobs to fail with a deadlock condition.

  • Resolved an issue where process exports used a time and date format that was not the same as alert and event exports. Made analysis more difficult to review.

  • Resolved an issue in which customers were getting Unsupported Platform errors for policies on supported Agent platforms

  • Resolved an issue where clicking an assigned policy in a dynamic group (System > Dynamic Groups > Assigned Policies) returns an error that the request could not be completed.

  • Resolved an issue where the Agent failed to compile the ACI resource files because the case of an entity name did not match the case of the referenced custom dictionary entity.

  • Resolved an issue where LDAP sync jobs failed because DG database tables were not being cleaned up after an associated job failed and left the tables behind, causing the Server to run out of storage space.

  • Resolved an issue where some rule parameter values were not being saved correctly and were being incorrectly assigned to more than one parameter.

  • Resolved an issue where exporting policies from the DGMC failed because multiple prompt surveys were mapped to the same prompt.

  • Resolved an issue where the date selection dialog box on the Policy-Wide Exceptions pane moved around on the page and the page refreshed every time the customer tried to select an exception date.

  • Resolved an issue where the Create Deployment option for deploying packages was displayed only if the user role included full control permission for packages. Users without full control for packages could not deploy packages as intended.

  • Resolved an issue in which deadlocks, and errors while cleaning up the collection database, caused the Artifact Assembler job to run too long and timeout or fail.

  • Resolved an issue where a customers Single-Sign-On Logon process was failing to log into the DGMC.

  • Resolved an issue where the notification email job failed with a syntax error “Cannot perform '<' operation on System.DateTime and System.String.”

Encryption for IBM i

Version 4.02

June 3, 2024

New Features
  • A new Field Encryption Registry report (PRTFLDREGE) has been added. This allows users to print all the Encryption Field Encryption setup information with the ability to filter results on Field Identifier, Library, File, Field, and Status.

  • A new Field Encryption audit has been added (PRTFLDAUD) that allows users to find all library/file fields on a system that contain the Encryption field procedure and validate those to the field encryption registry. This audit can detect mismatches in the field encryption registry and the field procedure attached to the file. This allows it to:

    • locate orphaned files that are associated with encryption field procedures but not with a corresponding field encryption entry in Powertech Encryption.

    • detect files that indicate they should be encrypted but no longer have field procedures, indicating data is left in an unencrypted state.

  • A new menu option for "Reports" has been added to the CRYPTO/CRYPTO main menu. It contains the following reports:

    • Field Encryption Registry (PRTFLDREGE) report

    • Field Encryption Entry (PRTFLDENCE) report

    • Field Proc Verification (PRTFLDAUDC) report

Enhancements
  • Improved processing for the IFS encryption SCAN OPEN/CLOSE exit programs by:

    • Reducing the number of Powertech Encryption file locks which impacted the ability to upgrade when using IFS Encryption.

    • Resolving error RNQ0202 — "CRRM650 in CRYPTO/CRRP650 called INITIALIZE which ended in error"

    • If a license key has not previously been entered, the license warning dialog will not be displayed.

  • The IFS encryption server job now handles scenarios when the journal receiver is changed, and the journal entry sequence number is reset while the job is active.

  • The print field encryption report (PRTFLDENCE) has been enhanced to include a report header and summary footer.

  • Added the ability to utilize a retry and delay option when a file lock is encountered while IFS encryption is being activated:

    • A new command CHGIFSLCK has been added to allow users to control the length of delay and amount of retries when activation encounters a file in use.

    • This resolves issues where IFS activation would fail with error "CPF9898: The file was in use by a job."

  • Help text has been added to the Change Exit Pgm Run Option (CHGEXTRUN) command.

  • If you plan to create referential constraints over fields that are already encrypted, the appropriate IBM i O/S version PTF must be applied:

    • IBM i 7.3: SI84738

    • IBM i 7.4: SI84755

    • IBM i 7.5: SI84754

NOTE: The PTFs are included in the System Requirements section of the Installation Guide.
Fixes
  • An authority issue that prevented encryption and decryption API's from acknowledging when the current job user was changed has been resolved.

  • An authority issue with starting and ending the IFS server job (STRIFSENCJ and ENDIFSENCJ commands), causing it to fail with error CPA0702, has been resolved.

  • A function check error of RNX1255 on the WRKFLDENC menu has been resolved.

  • An issue that caused the inability to locate the master encryption key, resulting in error CRE0366, has been resolved.

  • Command CHGEXTRUN has been added under PCRADMIN authorization list.

  • Resolved CPF4133, CEE9901, and RNX1219 errors on GO CRYPTO when an external file called 'CRYPTO’ resides in a library that is higher in the library list than library CRYPTO.
