Data Migration
Overview
Data migration is the process of transferring or consolidating data from one application or system to another, which may be necessary if migrating Automate data from one computer to another, upgrading to a newer version of the software (for example, Automate 9 to Automate 10) or in certain situations, transferring from one product line to another (for example, Automate Desktop to Automate). Automate is designed to run side-by-side with Automate Desktop, allowing you to perform migrations at your own leisure.
Migrating data
Some important factors to consider in data migration is overall ease of use and total downtime accumulated as a result of the migration and testing phases. With Automate, migration is easy and straightforward. Automate's AML (Automation Markup Language) and AMA (Automate Archive) implementation is backward compatible allowing tasks constructed in legacy versions of Automate Desktop the ability to run without issues or modifications in newer versions of Automate Desktop or Automate. In addition, Automate supports importing all Automate exported file formats, including Automate Backup files.
