Logging

Description

By default, Automate Desktop maintains logs that record task, system and audit events which can be viewed by way of the Logs section of the Task Administrator. This property enables more control as to whether extended information should be logged for the task or whether events should be logged to a separate text file.

To access Logging properties of a managed task, from Task Administrator's Tasks view, right-click the desired task and select Go to > Logging.

Practical usage

Allows you to customize or enhance logging pertaining to this managed task.

Property Description
Log extended step information If enabled, step by step information about this task will be written to the Task Events section of the Automate Desktop Log. If disabled, only the beginning and ending steps appear in the Automate Desktop Log.
Log to an additional text file If enabled, allows you to log runtime information about this task onto a separate text file. If the Log extended step information option is enabled, step by step information will be logged onto the selected text file as well. If the file does not exist, it will be created during task execution. To select a text file to log to, click the folder icon and navigate to the file or simply enter the full path and file name in the provided text-box (supported file types are .log and .txt).
