Description

Terminal emulation is often used to give PC users the ability to log on and get direct access to legacy prams in a mainframe operating system. A terminal server can be anything from a text terminal/green screen that utilizes TCP/IP, Telnet, SSH, or any other vendor specific network protocol with a common connection to a network. Nowadays, terminal emulators are used by Unix and Linux administrators to access their web servers or by employees of companies who need to access different types of software on central computers.

Often used to completely simulate the exact procedures that a user normally performs during a terminal session. Using the terminal actions, legacy systems can be automated in the background without the use of 3rd party software. With Automate Desktop, terminal servers can be used to run programs, save files, and employ network resources, altogether, working as a bridge to connect terminal and/or legacy systems to Windows networks and computers.

Activity	Description
Terminal - Connect	Connects to a terminal using the specified emulation type and establishes a new terminal session which can be used in subsequent terminal steps.
Terminal - Control	Controls the terminal window of an established terminal session in the form of a specific action, such as showing/hiding the terminal window, clearing the terminal window of all text or setting the cursor to a specific position.
Terminal - Disconnect	Disconnects a terminal connection and ends the terminal session previously established with the Terminal - Connect activity.
Terminal - Get text	Retrieves text from the terminal during an established terminal session and populates a variable with the results. This action can be set to retrieve text from the entire screen, the current line, a specified line, or a specified range.
Terminal - Send text	Sends text to the terminal starting at the current cursor position during an established Terminal session. This action can be set to wait until the terminal is ready to receive the next command before sending text.
Terminal - Wait for	Causes task execution to pause at the current step until the condition to wait for ensues.
