Copy content rules from another policy route

When you create or edit policy routes, you can save time by copying the content rules from similar policy routes.

To do this, follow the standard procedure for creating or editing a policy route. On the Modify Policy Route page of the route, configure the panels, except the Unless One Of These Content Rules Triggers panel. When you configure the content rules for the route, you copy them from another existing policy route, rather than adding the content rules individually.

You can either:

Copy a set of content rules from another policy route

  1. Navigate to Policy > Manage Policy Definition > Mail Policy Routes. The Manage Policy Routes page is displayed.

  2. Using the Modify Policy Route page, follow the procedure for creating or editing a policy route to the point where you define the content rules.
  3. In the task panel, click Copy rules from route. The Copy Rules From Another Route dialog is displayed.
  4. From the Select source route drop-down menu, select the policy route from which to copy the content rules.
  5. Specify whether to retain the existing content rules or overwrite them with the copied content rules.

    • If you leave the Overwrite destination route check box unselected, the existing content rules are retained and the copied rules are added to them.

    • If you select the Overwrite destination route check box, the existing content rules are replaced with the copied rules.

  6. Click Copy Rules. The copied content rules are displayed in the Unless One Of These Content Rules Triggers panel.

  7. If required, change the order of the content rules. Content rules are prioritized within a policy route and processed according to the order in which they are listed. This means that the order determines which action is performed primarily when a message triggers more than one content rule.

In the Unless One Of These Content Rules Triggers panel, select the content rule and adjust its order, using and .

  8. If required, change the priority of the policy route. See Change the priority of a policy route for more information.

  9. Apply the configuration.

If you change any configuration or policy settings, you must Apply Configuration for the new settings to take effect. You can do this either from the Changes Made panel, or System > ConfigurationApply Configuration. See Apply new configuration for more information.

If you use Peer Gateways (i.e. when multiple Gateways are peered), any configuration changes from a local Gateway can then be applied to all the peers at the same time. See Configure Peer Gateways for more information.
