Create a Custom URL List

Custom URL Lists are a defined list of URLs you can update.

You can create a Custom URL List which is referenced by a URLs and Hyperlinks clause in the What To Look For? section of Content rules.

Create a Custom URL List

  1. Navigate to Policy > Policy References > URL Lists. The Manage URL Lists page is displayed.

  2. In the URL Lists panel, click New. The Choose URL List Type dialog is displayed.

  3. Select Custom URL List and click Create.
  4. Use the Overview section to add a Name and optional Notes for the Custom URL List.

Add a new URL to a URL List

  1. Move the mouse pointer over the URLs panel and click New. The Add URL dialog is displayed.
  2. Enter the URL you want to add to the list.

Use wildcards to match sub-domains, protocols and directory paths in URLs. For example:

    • *domain.com matches http://www.domain.com, https://domain.com and http://subdomain.com
    • *domain.com/directory* matches http://www.domain.com/directory, http://domain.com/directory/file and https://www.domain.com/directory/otherdirectory/file

Edit a URL List

To edit or remove a URL in the list, move the mouse pointer over the URLs area and select the URL you wish to edit, then click Edit or Delete, as required.

Import a URL List

  1. From the What would you like to do? panel, click Import URL List. The Import URL List dialog is displayed.
  2. Click the Choose File button and browse for the file containing your URL List. When selected, the file name is displayed.

Use a return-separated text file to import your entries.
  3. Click Import. The list displays your imported URLs.

If you change any configuration or policy settings, you must Apply Configuration for the new settings to take effect. You can do this either from the Changes Made panel, or System > ConfigurationApply Configuration. See Apply new configuration for more information.

If you use Peer Gateways (i.e. when multiple Gateways are peered), any configuration changes from a local Gateway can then be applied to all the peers at the same time. See Peer Gateways for more information.
