Alarms and Alerts Secure Email Gateway provides both Alarms and Alerts, which are different features used for different purposes. |
Alerts generated by Generate an Alert action
When a content rule is triggered, your Gateway can generate an email alert message and send it to a specified recipient. Typically, these alert messages are used to warn administrators of a policy-related issue. In order to use this feature, you firstly need to configure the Alert Settings. Once configured, the Gateway sends the email alert message when the content rule is triggered. The alert is also recorded in the Policy Enforcement Alerts log.
Alerts generated by Policy Engine problem
An alert will be generated and logged in the Policy Enforcement Alerts log by the following events:
- A Policy Engine health problem
- Failure to process a message
- Failure to move a message from one message area to another
In these cases, your Gateway also generates an alarm, in addition to logging the alert in the Policy Enforcement Alerts log.
