Log Export

You can configure Secure ICAP Gateway to export selected system logs to an external (syslog) server at scheduled intervals. The export process writes new logs to the server at each interval.

Management of the exported log files is the responsibility of the Administrator.
  1. Navigate to System > Monitoring & Control > Logs & Alarms.
  2. Click the Log Export tab.
  3. In the Syslog Server panel, click Click here to change these settings.
  4. Select Enable log export.
  5. Enter the Server (IP address or hostname) and Port number of your Syslog server. The default port is 514.
  6. Enter a Poll Interval (minutes). This determines the frequency of the export. You can enter a value between 1 and 60, but the recommended setting is once every 5 minutes.
  7. From the list, select the log types you want to export. The application which generated the log is displayed in brackets. For example, Backup Log (backup) and General System (syslog-ng).

If you want to export data from all log types, make sure no log types are selected and click the toggle button at the top of the list.

  8. Click Save. The selected logs will be exported at the frequency specified by the Poll Interval (minutes).

The first export cycle of each selected log type records only the log name and size. Subsequent exports will include new data written to the log during the interval.

Each exported log displays the time stamp of the log file, or the time stamp of the export, where applicable.
