Configuring the Authentication Settings

Authentication settings allow you to configure Webdocs to authenticate a user's login name and password through an external source, such as a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server.

NOTE:

Webdocs now works with any LDAP server, not just Active Directory.

Adding a New Authentication Server

This topic shows you how to add a new LDAP authentication server. Authenticating a Webdocs user account with an existing LDAP user account allows you to manage user credentials in one central location by using the existing network security resources in your LDAP server. Authenticating Webdocs users this way means that users have fewer user names and passwords to remember.

NOTE:

You must have an LDAP-compatible server set up and running to authenticate a user's log-in with LDAP. If you have any questions, contact Fortra.

To add a new server:

  1. On the side menu of the Settings tab, click Authentication option.

    The Authentication Settings display.

  2. At the top of the Authentication Details screen, click New Server .

The New Authentication Server page displays.

  3. At the bottom of the page, click Save .

A message displays, telling you the authentication server is added.
