Check Web site file spelling
You can check the spelling of selected text, text in the current page, text in the current file’s page layouts, all pages, or all text in the map.
1. If you plan a comprehensive check, you do not need to select or highlight anything.
OR
If you are checking the spelling of selected text, highlight the text.
OR
If you are checking the spelling of text in a single page, click the page in the map to make it the current page.
OR
If you are checking the spelling of text in multiple pages, select them in the map.
2. Choose Tools > Spelling.
3. For Check in, specify exactly what you want to check:
Current page checks the current page, usually the one you are viewing. (If you are using Split Page Area to view more than one page at a time, only the page you have most recently touched is checked.)
All pages checks all of the text in all of the file's pages, except for text that is automatically put into pages by page layouts.
Page layouts checks only the text that is part of the file's page layouts.
Map text checks all labels and sequence titles in the map.
Selected pages checks text in all of the pages that are selected, except for text that comes from page layouts.
Selected text checks all text that is currently selected in the current page or page layout.
The options available depend on whether you selected anything in step 1.
4. (Optional) If you chose All Pages and want CuteSITE Builder to begin checking from the beginning of the Web site file, click Start from beginning.
5. Click Start. When CuteSITE Builder finds an unrecognized word, it displays the title of the page that contains the word and also shows the word in context.
You can ignore the word, add it to your custom dictionary, correct it, or, in the case of a repeated word, delete it.
6. To pay no attention to the fact that this word was found, click Ignore. If you think this word might appear several more times, and you do not want it to be found again in the current session, click Ignore All.
OR
If you do not want the word to be found again, ever, you can add the word to your custom dictionary by clicking Add.
OR
To delete a word, click Delete.
OR
To correct the error, either type the correct spelling in the Change To field and click Change, or select one of the suggestions for the correct spelling of the word and click Change. If you think this word appears several times, and you want to correct all occurrences of it in the same way, click Change All.
7. When you finish a check, you can start another pass (perhaps to check a different type of text) without closing the Spelling dialog. Click Restart, choose a different set of content to be checked, and then click Start.
Notes
Press F7 to check spelling.
In order to check the spelling of all the text in a file, you must start three separate spell-checking sessions, of the pages, the page layouts, and the text in the map.
Some text in pages may be part of the page layout. This text is called static text. When the cursor hovers over such text, a lock symbol appears. Because static text from page layouts is less likely to have spelling mistakes, CuteSITE Builder checks it separately. The efficient place to edit such text is on the page layout itself. For example, to make a minor change in a corporate name or message that appears on every page, simply choose Tools > Page Layout Editor and then change the text once in the page layout. To edit a single instance of static text, you must first unlock it.
When you check spelling or search for text, CuteSITE Builder scans the content of each page's fields first, before it scans the contents of the page. Fields that appear in page layouts (and are therefore part of static text) are still checked within the page where they appear. Within each page, CuteSITE Builder scans the contents of the page areas in this order: left border, top border, right border, bottom border, page body.
Unless you click Start from beginning, CuteSITE Builder begins scanning at your cursor location, if any, and from the current page, if any. This lets you stop and make changes, or pause to work with other text commands, and then re-start the check.
Spell checking moves through pages in the order in which they appear in the outline. You can change this order. If you have checked only part of a Web site file, CuteSITE Builder offers you the option of checking from the file's beginning.
CuteSITE Builder checks spelling, capitalization, and duplicate words. It doesn’t check grammar.
When you add a word to the custom dictionary, CuteSITE Builder recognizes the word during subsequent spell checks. You should add words such as proper names or company names to your custom dictionary, along with any words that are unique to your profession or subject area that are not in the standard dictionary.
CuteSITE Builder stores the custom dictionary in your personal folder under the name CUTESITE BUILDER.FD. If you do not have a personal folder registered with Windows, CuteSITE Builder warns you when you first launch the application that a personal dictionary cannot be created.
Picture descriptions (in Image Properties) and prompt text (in page layouts) are never checked.
Occasionally a spelling error is found in the lower portion of a long paragraph. When this occurs, the error may not be visible in the dialog: you may have to scroll to view it.
