Create a navigation link

You can create two types of navigation links: either a list of links to all pages in a sequence, or next, previous, up, and down links. Next and previous links become active when you place a page in a sequence. Up and down links become active when you create up level links to or from the current page. Navigation links automatically adjust as you reorder a sequence, or add and remove pages from it, or add or delete up level relationships.

Most CuteSITE Builder page layouts include navigation links by default. You can also create navigation links manually. The procedures below discuss creating next, previous, up, and down links.

Create a navigation link from a selection

1 In the page area, select the picture or text you want to make into a navigation link.

2 Right-click on the selection and choose Create Navigational Link.

Opposite Link To, choose the target of the link. You can create a next, previous, up, or down link, or a link to the top of the current page. The Link description remains Selection.

4 Click OK. CuteSITE Builder adds the link to the page.

Create a navigation link using text, a field, or an picture

1 In the page area, right-click where you want the link to appear and choose Create Navigational Link.

2 Below Link to, choose the target of the link from the drop-down list. You can create a next, previous, up, or down link, or a link to the top of the current page.

3 For Link Description, choose Text, Image, or Field. CuteSITE Builder can insert either text expressing the navigation link (for example, the words Next Page), a picture expressing the navigation link, or fields from the page being linked to.

· If you choose Text, you can edit the text before the link is created.

· If you want a picture to serve as the link, click Browse and then specify the picture.

· If you choose fields, you must then specify the exact fields you want to use. You must choose one field, and may choose two.

4 Click OK. CuteSITE Builder adds the link to the page.

Notes

n   You can also create a navigation link by placing the cursor where you want the link to appear and choosing Link > Create Navigational Link.

n   Once you have created navigation links using text or fields, you can then format them just as you format any other linked text in CuteSITE Builder.

n   Any navigation links that do not currently have a target will disappear when you publish the file to the Web.

n   When you edit a page or create a page layout, you can specify that a particular border displays only when navigation links are activated, and then you can place your navigation links in that border. Begin by changing the page's or layout's border properties. Navigation links are activated when the page that contains them participates in an up level link or appears on a sequence.
