Change map properties
1. Right-click in the map and choose Properties. Be sure to right-click in a blank area of the map. If you right-click a map element, such as a page or label, the Properties dialog box for that element will appear.
2. Select a background color.
3. Select the total width and height of the map, in map size units, which are "page widths".
For each new CuteSITE Builder file, the map size is set at 160 x 45 page widths. A page width is the distance between adjacent pages on a sequence, or 12 pixels. If you do not need this large a map, you can reduce its size. A map that fits closely within the space provided for the initial map at 800 x 600 pixel resolution is approximately 66 units wide and 8 units tall.
4. Select whether you want CuteSITE Builder to automatically scroll the map to the page icon for the page that appears in the page area.
5. Select whether you want each page’s short title to appear under its icon when you display the map at 200%. If a page doesn’t have a short title, CuteSITE Builder uses the first few characters of the page title.
6. Select whether you want to turn on grid snapping for map elements, such as pages, labels, and shapes.
Notes
The background color you specify appears for both the main map and OverAll map.
Be careful not to set a background color that obscures other map elements. For example, if you set a light-colored background, you may not be able to see labels, which appear by default as white. Or, if you set a yellow background, you may not be able to see the current page or sequence.
Select the Always scroll current page into view option when you have a large file with many links. It saves you or a visitor from having to manually reposition the map to see the location of pages accessed by following a link.
The grid is an invisible series of lines beneath the main map or OverAll map. If grid snapping is turned on, map elements such as pages, labels, and shapes always "snap to" one of the grid lines. The grid can help you better line up elements and make maps more visually appealing.
When you save a Web site file, CuteSITE Builder also saves the map properties you set.
When it is feasible to do so, reduce the size of the map so that your visitors do not find themselves scrolling into its empty portions.
