Text Overview

You can enter text in any section of the page area. To enter text, click in the area and begin typing. CuteSITE Builder offers many options for formatting the text you enter.

You can let each page layout choose an appropriate style for the text you enter, using its default styles such as (Left Border text). Using these styles ensures that whenever you change among CuteSITE Builder Web designs or page layouts, your text will remain formatted in a way that is suitable for the file's new look.

Or, you can adjust the formatting of your paragraphs using each design's set of named styles. A named style is a collection of font and paragraph attributes that you can apply at once. A named style definition usually includes the font, type size, attributes (such as bold or italic), and color of text, as well as the position of text on the page (such as indented or outdented) and any special formatting (such as bullets). Like page layouts, the names of the named styles are consistent among Web designs, but the named style definitions may vary. To apply a named style, select the paragraphs you want to format, right-click within the selection, and choose Format > Style, or select a style from the drop-down list on the Format toolbar.

Or, you can also add local formatting to text in a CuteSITE Builder page, regardless of whether you have applied a named style; for example, you can add bold to certain words or to the entire paragraph. Local formatting does not affect the named style definition. If you create local formatting that you want to apply more widely, you can modify the named style or create a new named style. To modify or create a named style, choose Format > Style.

The sample page area below from a CuteSITE Builder file about the Constitution of the United States illustrates some of the text formatting available in CuteSITE Builder. Click one of the terms below for a description of that kind of formatting.

Note

Each page area within a CuteSITE Builder page layout has its own default style, with a name such as (Left Border text). These initial styles chosen for each page body and border are styles CuteSITE Builder has determined are most effective for that section of the page area given the look and setup of the entire page layout. Text you enter appears in this style unless you apply another named style or locally format text or paragraphs. To change these styles, adjust the page layouts that contain them. If you change the design of the file, any text in the default styles is reformatted to the default style for the area in the new design.
