CuteFTP Server can display messages to users in four situations:
Login (under User settings)
The connection message appears when a user first connects, but before a user logs on.
Start the Administrator Interface and connect to the Server.
At the bottom of the left pane, click the Server tab.
In the left pane, select the Site you want to modify.
In the right pane, click the Site Messages tab.
In the Connect message box, enter the text that you want to appear when the user connects.
Click Apply.
Login messages may be applied at the User or User Setting Level. Users will automatically inherit the message applied to their User Setting Level. You can optionally display a message unique to a User.
Start the Administrator Interface and connect to the Server.
At the bottom of the left pane, click the Server tab.
In the left pane, expand a Server Group, Server, Site, and User Setting Level.
Click the Main tab.
In the Login message list, choose an option.
Use Default. You will not be able to add an additional message when a user connects. The default message for a successful login is 230-Login OK. Proceed.
Add to Default. This option places the default message on one line, then adds the message you typed into the Login message box. For users, the message set at the User Setting Level is the default.
Replace Default. The server will not display the default message, but will display the message you type in to the Login message box. For users, the message set at the User Setting Level is the default.
None. No messages appear when a user logs in.
Click Apply.
You can configure a site to only allow a specified number of maximum simultaneous connections. If you choose this option, you can specify a message for users when the maximum simultaneous connections number is exceeded.
Start the Administrator Interface and connect to the Server.
At the bottom of the left pane, click the Server tab.
In the left pane, expand a Server Group and Server.
Select the Site you wish to modify.
In the right pane, click the Site Messages tab.
In the User limit message box, enter the message you wish to display if the maximum simultaneous connections number is exceeded.
Click Apply.
The server can send an exit message when the client closes the session gracefully (using the FTP QUIT command).
Start the Administrator Interface and connect to the Server.
At the bottom of the left pane, click the Server tab.
In the left pane, expand a Server Group and Server.
Select the Site you wish to modify.
In the right pane, click the Site Messages tab.
In the Exit message box, enter the exit message you wish to display.
Click Apply.
Note
CuteFTP Server will display an additional message after your login message stating that CuteFTP Server is for personal use only. This message cannot be modified. Tampering with the program in order to change or remove this hard-coded message is in direct violation of the CuteFTP Server license agreement.
