Disconnecting Users on Timeout

You can automatically disconnect users after a specified time of inactivity, set per user or at the Settings Template. The idle timeout setting applies across all connection protocols supported by EFT Server (FTP/S, SFTP, HTTP/S). If a session has been idle for more than the specified timeout, the user has to log back in.

EFT Server also incorporates an internal timeout value that applies to administrator connections via the Administrator. If no activity (such as OnMouseClick) occurs for 15 minutes, the account is disconnected from EFT Server (HS-enabled sites only). A warning message and countdown timer appear after 10 minutes of inactivity. The timer resets if you click Continue; if no activity occurs, the timer expires, and the Administrator disconnects from EFT Server. Any non-committed changes are discarded.

To set a maximum idle limit for a user or Settings Template

  1. In the Administrator, connect to EFT Server and click the Server tab.

  2. In the left pane, click the user account or Settings Level that you want to configure.

  3. In the right pane, click the Connections tab.

  4. In the Connection limits area, next to Connection limits, click Configure. The Connection Limits dialog box appears.

  5. Select the Connection timeout check box, then type or select the maximum allowable seconds of inactivity allowed before the user is disconnected.

  6. Click OK to close the dialog box.

  7. Click Apply to save the changes on EFT Server.
