Dashboard Asset Descriptions

The Current Status Widget

The Assets you see when adding or editing a widget are created when you create your requests. These requests are the building blocks of your dashboard widgets and provide the view into your data.

You can create a Current Status widget using any of your created requests. The Current Status Widget can be created to display any of the available metrics in a single asset.

To create a Current Status Widget:

  1. Create or edit a dashboard as described in Creating a Dashboard.
  2. Add a new widget to the dashboard.
  3. Select Insite Watch List as your Data Source.
  4. Expand the Asset you want to use. Select Current Status.
  5. Select the List widget type.
  6. Choose which metrics to display.
  7. Finish creating the widget as described in Working with Widgets.

Example 1

A few of your systems with Robot Monitor installed have a history of high disk usage. You can create a request for these systems which will gather this data. This request will then be listed as an available asset when creating a dashboard widget. You can select this asset and create a widget that will give you a visual representation of these over threshold disk usage periods on your dashboard, giving you the ability to see timing patterns and make adjustments.

Example 2

You need to monitor the status of certain subsystems so that you can perform immediate action if any of them fail. You can create a request that will monitor the subsystems for one or more systems that you choose. When creating the request, you choose the Subsystem status metric. This request will then be listed as an available asset when creating a dashboard widget. You can select this Asset and create a Current Status widget that will give you a visual representation of the status of your subsystems.
