Using SecurID

This User Guide is written with the assumption that you have knowledge of IBM i security concepts and that you have the authority of QSECOFR.

When discussing programs, you are expected to know which functions are performed by each function and command key. The reference manual assumes that the following standard function and command keys are used throughout the SecurID software, and therefore no further details is given.

Using the SecurID User Guide

This User Guide provides detailed descriptions of all the fields in the software. It assumes that you know how to use the appropriate function and command keys to exit from the programs. It also assumes that you know how to action and process other function and command keys to activate sub-programs and modules.

Where appropriate, the full product name "Powertech RSA SecurID Agent for IBM i" is abbreviated as "SecurID".

SecurID Agent Menu

The Master Menu, MSCT000I, offers full access to all necessary functions within the SecurID Agent software. Access to this menu is controlled by IBM i object authority. Initially the *PUBLIC has *EXCLUDE authority to program MSCT000I.

Conventions

The layout of all screens follows SAA and CUA standards. You will also notice that even if the standard function and command keys are not displayed on the screen, the basic function and command keys will be still available. For example, F3 for Exit and F12 to return to previous screen will be available. Where ROLL is available to scroll through the information, FORWARD and BACKWARD will automatically be available. If you are used to the mainframe SAA conventions, you will find that F7=Backward and F8=Forward will also be available. You are expected to know these standards when referring to the reference manual.

Note that all screens have a help text facility. Help text for a program can be referenced by either taking the 'HELP' key or the F1 function key within that program.

The following items form the layout of a conventional SecurID screen:

Program Names

They are usually prefixed with 'MS' and normally 6 characters long and they are displayed in the top left hand corner of the screen.

Date

This is displayed in the top right hand corner.

Program Title

This is normally displayed in the middle of line 2.

Time

This is displayed directly underneath the date.

Print key

This is available where possible. To control the output of the print key, you may need to change the descriptions of the print file QPRINT.
