Policy References

Policy references are items that can be referenced when you define your security policy. For example, you can add one of the references, Informs, to your policy route to send notifications when specific content rule conditions are met.

Policy References

Lexical Expression Lists

Collections of words or phrases (lexical expressions) with associated weightings. See Lexical Expressions for more information.
Informs

Email messages that can be sent as a notification, for example to the original message sender or the system administrator. See Informs for more information.
Filename Lists

Lists of one or more file identification masks for identifying the presence of particular files or file types in a communication. See Filename Lists for more information.
Custom Media Types

Lists of one or more hexadecimal signatures that can be identified at the start or end of a media type file. The Gateway provides a number of custom media types and you can also create your own. See Custom Media Types for more information.
URL Lists

Lists of specific URLs used by content rules. URL Lists can be dynamic, updating in real-time to known malicious threats, or customized. You can apply URL Lists to sanitize content when a suspicious URL is encountered by the Gateway. See URL Lists for more information.

Policy References for the web type products

User Name Lists

Groupings of one or more users to whom you want to apply a common policy. See User Name Lists for more information.
Machine Lists

Groupings of individual user machines. Machine lists can be used to define one 'endpoint' of a policy route. See Machine Lists for more information.
Internet Zones

Groupings of web pages to which policies can apply. You can use Internet Zones as part of route definitions. Internet Zones define the World Wide Web endpoint of a route. See Internet Zones for more information.
Intranet Sites

Groupings of URLs that define the internal websites of your company. See Intranet Sites for more information.
End User & Block Pages

Configurable pages which are displayed when a prohibited web page is accessed or the user is approaching the end of their browsing time quota. See End User & Block Pages for more information.

In the editing page for each item under Policy References, there is the Usage panel at the top, describing which policy routes or content rules the item is currently applied to. If you click the name of a policy route or a content rule, you will be navigated to the Modify Policy Route page of that route, or the editing page of that rule. If an item is not applied to any policy routes or content rules, a message indicating this is displayed at the top, instead of the Usage panel.
