Apply a named style

A named style is a collection of font and paragraph attributes that you can apply at once. You can apply a named style to one or more paragraphs.

1. Select the paragraphs to which you want to apply the named style.

2. Right-click the selected paragraphs and choose Format > Style. The Styles dialog box appears. It includes a list of the named styles in the current file, along with a Style Attributes box that describes the currently selected style and a Local Formatting box that describes any local formatting that CuteSITE Builder found in the paragraphs you selected. (Local formatting is formatting you have added yourself, such as making a word bold.) The current paragraph style, if any, appears highlighted in the list.

3. Select a named style from the list. The description in the Style Attributes box changes each time you select a style.

4. (Optional) By default, CuteSITE Builder maintains any local character formatting,such as font or color, when applying the named style. If you want to remove local character formatting, so that CuteSITE Builder changes all text in the selected paragraphs to the named style, select the Remove local formatting when applying style option.

5. Click Apply Style.

• You can also click the drop-down box at the beginning of the Format toolbar or choose Format > Style from the menu to apply a named style.

• The named styles available in a file depend on the Web design you have selected for the file. As with page layouts, the names for named styles are consistent among the CuteSITE Builder designs, but the named style definitions may vary.

• You can also use the Styles dialog box to delete a named style.

• You can make local changes to a paragraph formatted in a named style or to text in the paragraph; for example, if the named style does not include a desired bold attribute, you can select the text in the paragraph and click the icon.

• If you find that a named style doesn't have any effect (or only a partial effect) on a paragraph, the paragraph has local formatting. Select the style again, but also select the Remove local formatting when applying style checkbox.

• Each border and page body in each page layout starts with a default style such as (Left Border text). It represents the page area's default text style, the style that CuteSITE Builder has determined are most effective for the area given the look and setup of the entire page layout. Text you enter appears in this style unless you apply another named style or locally format text or paragraphs. When you change the layout applied to a page, or the design of a Web site file, this page area property can change, and paragraphs in this "style" will be reformatted to the default style for the area in the new design.

• If you do need to modify default styles, choose Properties > Page Area and then click the Advanced tab.

• If you do make local changes to a named style that you want to reuse in the future, or if the available named styles do not include a style you need for your file, you can create or modify a named style.

• If you want to apply a named style to a list of links to a sequence, you must select all links in the list. If you select only part of the list, the Style command appears grayed.
