Creating FTP Sites

CuteFTP Server lets you to create a single Site on the same Server.

 

To create an FTP site

  1. Start the Administrator Interface and connect to the FTP Server where you want the new Site. If you are creating your first Site, you will connect during step four.

  2. At the bottom of the left pane, click the Server tab.

  3. Select the Server where you want the new site. If you are creating your first site continue with step four. If you have existing sites, skip to step seven.

  4. Click the plus sign by the server to expand it. The Connect to FTP Server window appears.

  5. Enter your user name and password for the FTP Server.

  6. Click Connect. The Create New Site window appears.

  7. Choose Configuration > Create New Site from the Administrator Interface menu bar. The Create New Site window appears.

  8. Enter a Name for the site. You can choose any name you like.

  9. Choose the Listening IP address for the site from the drop-down box or select All incoming.

  10. Choose the Port. The default for FTP sites is 21, however, you can enter any value between 1 and 65,535.

Note: Assigning port numbers under 1024 may lead to conflicts with other programs running on your computer.

  1. Select the Start site automatically after creation check box if you want the site to start right away.

  1. Click Next.

  2. In the Please type in path where site user database will be stored box, leave the default path, unless you want to store the authentication database in a new location, then type the path to the new location.

  3. In the User list refresh interval list, select how often you want CuteFTP Server to check the database for new users.

  4. Click Next.

  5. In the Please select a folder for the FTP root box, enter the path to the folder you want as the Site's  default FTP root folder. You can also click the little yellow folder to browse to the folder you want.

  6. Select the Create standard subfolders... check box to automatically create Bin, Pub, Usr and Incoming folders with appropriate permissions under the root folder (only necessary if you're trying to mimic a typical default *nix server setup).

  7. Select the Enable Anonymous access to the FTP server... check box to create an anonymous account that does not require a password. The account will have limited permissions.

  8. Select the Auto assign home folders to site users check box to automatically create a user folder under \Site Root\Usr\[username] when a user is added.

  9. Click Finish. If you have not created the folder you chose in step eight, a box appears asking if you want the folder created.

  10. Click Yes.
