Starting the Server on a remote computer

You can start the Server on a remote computer by communicating with the NT Services Applet on the computer where the Server engine is running.

 

To start the service using the Services Applet control box

  1. Start the Administrator interface on the local computer.

  2. Choose Edit > Service Applet Settings... from the Administrator Interface menu bar. The Transfer Engine Service Settings dialog box will appear.

  3. Click the Administer remote machine radio button.

  4. Enter the IP address of the remote machine.

Warning: The user name and password you are currently logged on with will be passed to the Services Applet on the remote computer. You must have administrative rights on the computer where the server engine is located to start it with the Transfer Engine Service Settings dialog box.

  1. Click the Connect to Service Manager button.

  2. Click Start Service.
