Add images to the map
1 Right-click the map and choose Insert Image. Be sure to right-click the map itself, and not a map element, or the Insert Image command may not appear.
2 Select a picture. A preview of the image appears in the lower left corner. The Show Details box in the lower right corner displays the height, width, color depth, and image type of the image.
3 (Optional) If you want to reduce the size of the image, click the Limit image size (in pixels) box and enter the Width and Height you want the image to be. The image will be resized proportionally.
The settings you specify will be saved and will appear the next time you insert an image. So be sure to check this setting and adjust it, if necessary, whenever you insert a picture.
4 (Optional) If the image is a sequential .JPG (such as a picture taken with a digital camera), you can rotate the image before adding it. Click a rotation option.
5 Click Open.
6 Drag the image to the desired location.
7 (Optional) Drag the corners of the image to resize it.
Notes
You can also add a picture to the map by choosing Insert > Shape > Image/Clipart, or dragging a picture onto the map from another application such as a word processor or browser, or dragging a picture file onto the map from Windows Explorer.
CuteSITE Builder supports the following image types: .BMP, .DIB, .GIF, .JPG, PCX, .PIC, .PNG, .TGA, .TIF, and TIFF.
If you add a picture larger than the map, CuteSITE Builder automatically resizes the image so it fits in the available map area.
You can resize a map image either by dragging or by using the Image Properties dialog box. You can also specify that CuteSITE Builder keep the image at a fixed size when you drag, in order to create a tiled effect. To set this option, right-click the image and choose Properties.
You can also use the Map Image Properties dialog box to set whether the image displays only in the main map, only in the OverAll map, or in both maps.
You can also crop or set a transparent color for or view the properties for map images in the Image Properties dialog box. To display this dialog box for a map image, right-click the image and choose Properties. Then, in the Map Image Properties dialog box, click the Properties button.
CuteSITE Builder stores each image only once per file, even if you insert the image in multiple places. This means that reusing a picture does not significantly affect the size of a CuteSITE Builder file. It also means that once you have added a picture to a file, it can be quicker to copy and paste the image to other locations rather than inserting the image again.
With the exception of .JPG and .PIC format images, CuteSITE Builder stores and displays images using the CuteSITE Builder color palette. The CuteSITE Builder color palette is slightly modifed from palettes used by common Web browsers, and has a maximum density of 256 colors. If your display supports more colors, you will be able to see the additional colors only in .JPG and .PIC format images.
You can lock shapes and images in place on the map so that you do not inadvertently move them while moving pages, labels, sequences, or tour sequences.
Right-click in the map and choose Lock Background to lock map elements.
You can’t move map elements (such as pages, labels, and shapes) beyond the borders of the map. However, you can drag an element against the edge of the map window to cause the map to scroll. Use the OverAll Map to locate a map element that is out of sight, or scroll the map to bring the element into view. As an alternative to scrolling, you can choose Map > Main > 200% or Map > Main > 100% to change the level of detail in the map.
It is not possible to copy or move images between the map and pages using the Windows clipboard. If you want the same image in both places, you must insert it twice.
